Talk to our teamWhy families choose Ascend
Every person who walks through our door arrives with a different story. Your plan should reflect that.
We use approaches proven in clinical research — and we'll explain, in plain language, exactly why we chose each one for you.
No two therapy plans at Ascend look alike. Yours is built from your evaluation, your goals, and your daily life.
You'll never wonder what happened in a session. We share what we did, what we saw, and what to try at home.
We track measurable goals and review them with you regularly, so growth is something you can point to — not just hope for.
Conditions we treat
We work with a wide range of speech, language, and communication needs. Find what sounds familiar — and know that it has a name, and a path forward.
Hard to understand, even for family. Certain sounds get left out, swapped, or softened. Very common — and very responsive to therapy.
Fewer words than expected for their age, or trouble putting words together. Understanding may be well ahead of speaking — which is often a very good sign.
They know exactly what they want to say, but the message from brain to mouth gets scrambled. Progress is steady with the right, specialised approach.
Support with conversation, connection, play, and being understood — always affirming, and always led by your child's strengths.
Repeats, blocks, or gets stuck. We focus on confident, comfortable communication rather than "perfect" speech.
Difficulty with textures, chewing, or safe swallowing at mealtimes. We work closely with your pediatrician throughout.
Words that won't come, or come out wrong. The thoughts are intact — the pathway needs rebuilding. Progress is possible long after a stroke.
A voice that's grown quiet or harder to control. Targeted programmes can meaningfully restore volume, clarity, and confidence.
Support with memory, attention, organisation, and getting your words out the way you mean them.
Hoarseness, strain, fatigue, or a voice that gives out — especially if you rely on it professionally.
It's never too late. We work on fluency techniques and, just as importantly, on speaking without fear.
Not a disorder — a goal. Speak with confidence and be understood clearly at work and in life.
Not sure where you fit? That's completely normal — and it's exactly what a first conversation is for.

Whether you're here for your child or for yourself, therapy at Ascend starts the same way — by listening.
Play-based, family-centred therapy that helps children find their words — and their confidence. Sessions feel like play because, for a child, play is how learning happens.
Focused, respectful therapy for adults rebuilding speech, language, voice, or cognitive communication. You set the goals. We build the plan around the life you want to get back to.

Our therapy process
No surprises. No jargon. Just a clear path, and someone walking it with you.
Before anything else, we get to know you. A comprehensive evaluation looks at how you or your child communicates today — strengths first, then areas to build.
We translate the evaluation into specific, measurable goals — then sit down and walk you through it, so you know precisely what we're working toward and why.
For children, sessions are built around play, movement, and games. For adults, sessions are focused and practical. Every session has a purpose — and you'll always know what it was.
We measure against the goals we set together. Plans get adjusted as skills grow. And when the goals are met, we'll tell you honestly — because the aim was never to keep you in therapy.

Founder & Lead SLP
ASHA-certified & state licensedFounder & Lead Speech-Language Pathologist
"I became a speech-language pathologist because I watched my younger brother struggle to be understood — and I watched what changed when someone finally listened properly. Every family who walks in here is carrying something. My job is to take some of that weight, give you a real plan, and celebrate every single step forward with you. There will be plenty of them."

Family partnership
The most powerful therapy doesn't happen in our room — it happens in your kitchen, in the car, at bedtime. We make sure you know exactly how to make those moments count.
You're welcome in every session. Watch, join in, or take notes — whatever helps you most. Nothing we do is hidden from you.
You'll leave with simple, specific things to try at home. Not homework. Just small ways to turn everyday moments into practice.
Short session summaries, regular progress reviews, and a direct line to your therapist when something comes up. You'll never have to guess.
For the first time, I felt like I knew what to do at home instead of just worrying.Rachel M. — parent of a 4-year-old

Success stories
Real families. Real progress. Shared with their permission.
Age 3, fewer than 15 words, frustrated and melting down most days. Strangers couldn't understand him at all.
Combining three- and four-word sentences, understood by teachers and grandparents, and starting kindergarten with confidence.
What we did: Twice-weekly play-based language therapy with a strong parent-coaching component at home.
9 months from evaluation to todayI was so worried he'd cry every single week. He asks if it's a therapy day. That's not something I ever expected to say.Jenna T.Parent of a 5-year-old
Eleven months after my stroke I was told I'd plateaued. I hadn't. I just needed someone who believed that.Robert B.Adult client, aphasia

Frequently asked questions
If yours isn't here, just ask. We'd rather you had a real answer than a guess.
A few common signs: strangers struggle to understand them, they have noticeably fewer words than other children their age, they get frustrated trying to be understood, or a teacher has raised it. But honestly — if you're wondering, that's reason enough to ask. A consultation costs nothing and commits you to nothing. And if we don't think therapy is needed, we'll tell you that plainly.
Neither. We work with children from around 18 months through the teenage years. Early intervention is genuinely powerful, but later intervention still works well — the brain stays adaptable far longer than people assume. The best time to start is whenever you're ready. That's true at three and at thirteen.
It depends on the specific need, the starting point, how often we meet, and how much practice happens at home. Some families see their goals met in three to six months; others work with us for a year or more. We won't give you a number we can't stand behind — but we will review progress with you every eight weeks so you always know where you stand.
Sessions for young children are built almost entirely around play, movement, and games — because that's how children's brains actually learn. Most parents tell us the same thing: they braced for tears and got a child who asks when the next session is.
Yes, adults absolutely improve. The brain keeps forming new connections throughout life — that's neuroplasticity, and it doesn't switch off at a certain age. We regularly work with people years after a stroke or diagnosis who were told they had plateaued, and see meaningful gains. It is not too late.
Your first visit is a 60–90 minute evaluation. We'll talk with you about what you've noticed, spend time directly with you or your child, and use standard assessments alongside informal observation. Bring any reports from your doctor or school if you have them. You'll leave with a clear explanation of what we found and a written report within a few days.
We're in-network with most major carriers and we handle the paperwork and authorisations for you. We also accept FSA and HSA cards, and offer transparent private-pay rates with a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. Tell us your plan on the consultation call and we'll verify your benefits before you commit to anything.
Both. Many families do a mix — in person for the evaluation and hands-on work, online when life gets busy. Research consistently shows teletherapy is as effective as in-person therapy for most goals, and we'll be honest with you about which format suits your situation best.
